Living in the small community of Sandy Oregon I see the Christmas Spirit growing as we continue toward Christmas. You can see it on the faces of people as they finish their Christmas shopping, grab their Christmas trees, and tour the Christmas lights at night.
As a Claus portrayal artist I see it within the Christmas community. From Santa’s and Mrs. Clauses, to Jack Frost, Yukon Cornelius, Elsa, The Grinch and others. ALL are hard at work spreading the Christmas Spirit. From public appearances, home visits, fundraisers and much more, they embark on this journey to impact as many people as they can in the short weeks of the season that we have.
Small businesses have decked the halls and adorned their shop walls, putting out their Christmas wares, eager to accept customers and visits from these extraordinary spreaders of holiday cheer and joy. Homes twinkle with the glow of Christmas lights. Driving down the streets you are greeted and invited into the living rooms of strangers, who have placed their trees in their windows with curtains open, inviting passerby’s to look in at the festive and inviting rooms carefully decorated for the season.
These scenes play out across our nation and indeed the world over. Carols fill the air in parks, plazas, malls, and many other places. The Christmas Spirit builds to a crescendo to the day itself. And when it draws to an end it invites us to reflect. Reflect upon the season we just came through, and the year that is soon to end.
In these last days leading up to Christmas let us act now to spread the joy to all we encounter. Let us methodically set out to see what else we can do to aid our fellow human. Kindness, love, peace and comfort. All these and more can we bring and give. And when we do, we receive much more in return. Once again I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
