Many Santa Claus portrayal artists don’t stop spreading joy when Christmas ends—they simply trade in their red suits for bunny ears! For these performers, stepping into the role of the Easter Bunny allows them to continue bringing smiles to children long after the holiday season has passed. Just like with Santa, they create magical experiences for families, whether through photo sessions, community egg hunts, or even personal home visits. It’s a wonderful way for them to keep the spirit of giving and celebration alive throughout the year.
I truly admire the dedication and creativity that these performers bring to their Easter Bunny portrayals. It takes a special kind of energy to embody such an iconic character—just like with Santa, the Easter Bunny needs to be warm, welcoming, and full of magic. Many Santas who take on this role put just as much effort into perfecting their bunny characters as they do their Christmas personas, making sure each visit is just as memorable. Seeing their enthusiasm and commitment is inspiring, and I have great respect for their work.
That being said, portraying the Easter Bunny is not for me. As a child, I was actually afraid of the Easter Bunnies I’d see in malls and stores. I knew they weren’t the real Easter Bunny, and something about the oversized, motionless eyes and silent presence unsettled me. While I loved the idea of the Easter Bunny visiting and leaving treats, seeing those costumed figures up close made me hesitant. Because of that early experience, I never developed a personal connection to portraying the character myself.
Even though I don’t see myself stepping into a bunny suit anytime soon, I do appreciate the joy it brings to others. For many families, meeting the Easter Bunny is just as exciting as meeting Santa, and I love seeing the smiles these talented performers create. The ability to spread happiness across different seasons is a gift, and I’m always in awe of those who take on both roles with such dedication. It’s a beautiful way to keep the magic alive year-round.
For me, Christmas will always be where my heart is. I find my joy in donning the red suit, sharing stories, and creating cherished memories during the holiday season. While I’ll happily admire the work of my fellow Santas-turned-Bunnies from the sidelines, I know that my place is firmly in the world of Father Christmas. And that’s just the way I like it.
