Crafting Transformational Holiday Moments: A Santa’s Reflection

This week, I had the great pleasure of attending a Zoom session titled “Creating a Holistic Transformational Experience”—and it was nothing short of inspiring.

As a professional Santa Claus portrayal artist, one of my deepest objectives has always been more than bringing laughter or delivering a few jolly “ho ho ho’s” (though I do enjoy a good chuckle). My true goal is to create lasting WOW moments—moments that don’t fade when the cookies are gone or the lights are packed away, but instead leave a heartfelt imprint.

This session reminded me why I do what I do. It’s not about entertaining—it’s about impact.

Beyond Entertainment: Memory That Lasts

One practice close to my heart is something I’ve developed called the Memory Snowglobe. Whenever I’m made aware that a child I’ll be visiting has recently lost a loved one, I bring this special snowglobe as a gift. I will place a photo of their loved one in it and share in this moment with the child. Talking with them about their loved one and hearing their memoriers. It’s delicate, meaningful, and deeply personal. More than just a keepsake, it becomes a symbol of enduring love, swirling with memory and comfort.

These moments are never scripted. They’re gentle, quiet, and sacred. But I’ve seen firsthand the powerful emotional connection a small, thoughtful gesture can create. These are the kinds of experiences I believe Santa is called to deliver.

Inspiration from “The Power of Moments”

Tonight’s session brought to mind the incredible book The Power of Moments by Chip and Dan Heath. If you’ve never read it, I highly recommend it. The book emphasizes that we can intentionally create defining moments—meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impression. As Santa, this philosophy rings true with every visit, every interaction, and every spark of wonder we get to witness.

It also made me reflect on a past session led by the brilliant MK Haley, a 30 year Disney imagineer and current professor at University of Texas at Austin, who shared with us the idea of the “Artifact of the Journey.” It’s the same principle: when a tangible object becomes part of an emotional experience, it gains profound meaning. Whether it’s a snowglobe, a note, a small bell, or even just a whispered word from Santa—it can anchor that moment forever in a child’s heart.

A Collaborative Spirit in the Claus Community

What makes this journey even more powerful is knowing that I’m not walking it alone. Every week, Santas and Mrs. Clauses from across the country and around the world are gathering together, collaborating and exchanging ideas on how to elevate our craft. We’re learning from one another, lifting each other up, and leaning into meaningful topics like this one.

Together, we are shaping a new season of magic—one that is mindful, impactful, and rich with emotional depth.

My Commitment

As Father Christmas of the Three Mountains, I want to reaffirm my commitment to this mission: to show up with intention, presence, and heart at every single visit I’m honored to be a part of.

Whether I’m visiting a cozy living room for a home visit, leading a story session at a community event, or bringing joy to a corporate holiday party, I pledge to be fully present, tuned in, and ready to create magic that doesn’t just sparkle—it stays.

Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you.

With warmth and wonder,
Father Christmas of the Three Mountains
