The Season Ends In Quiet Reflection

As this season draws to a close, I find myself slowing down, taking a deep breath, and reflecting on just how full my heart is. This year, Santa brought me into the lives of hundreds of families across our community, and each encounter—whether bustling or quiet—was a gift. From tree lightings and community gatherings filled with laughter and excited little voices, to moments where I could simply kneel down, listen, and be present, I was reminded again and again why I do this work. The magic isn’t just in the red suit or the beard—it’s in connection.

Some of the most meaningful moments of my season happened in my home studio. For children and families who struggle with traditional public meet-and-greets, that space became a calm, safe place where the world slowed down. There were no rushing lines, no loud crowds—just time, patience, and gentle conversation. Those visits reminded me that Santa looks different for every family, and that honoring each child exactly where they are is one of the most important parts of this calling.

I was also blessed to visit preschools and daycares, where wonder still lives close to the surface and joy spills out freely. Tiny hands tugging at my sleeve, big questions about reindeer and elves, and wide-eyed excitement filled those rooms. This season also brought new experiences for me, including my first visits to assisted living and memory care facilities. Sitting with elders, sharing stories, songs, and memories—some crystal clear, others fleeting—was deeply humbling and profoundly moving.

This year included home visits filled with family traditions, laughter around living room trees, and quiet moments by the fire. One visit in particular will stay with me always: sharing time with an old man who had recently entered hospice care. In that space, Santa wasn’t about presents or lists—it was about presence, dignity, and compassion. That visit reminded me that the spirit of Christmas reaches us at every age, even at the threshold between seasons of life.

I end this Santa season feeling blessed beyond measure—filled with joy, laughter, love, and deep gratitude for every family who welcomed me into their lives. Today marks the close of my season as Santa, and I now turn my full attention toward my own family and friends, and the quiet, meaningful days leading up to Christmas. From my heart to yours, I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a safe and Happy New Year. May the love of this season carry you well into the days ahead.
